Putty displays x and q instead of lines when connected to debian console

When you run Ncurses programs or other apps that use the Unicode UTF-8 veritcal and horizontal lines, putty will displays them as x and q respectively. To have these display properly on putty:

1. open putty and load the connection you want to edit
2. Connection > Data > terminal-type string
3. change from xterm to putty
