(Skill Level:) Intermediate

Counter Strike Source allows for the user to have a "spraypaint image" that they can "spray" on the wall, floor, or box wherever they want. These CS sprays as they are called can have transparent backgrounds, and are a simple to make item in Photoshop.

Transparent Counter Strike Source sprays use alpha channels to allow you to choose what areas of your spray will be transparent. Photoshop uses the file format .TGA which stands for Targa. TGA files allow you to have a hidden-to-the-eye alpha layer in your picture which again, it's how Counter Strike Source allows you to have transparent sprays. 1.) File> New 2.) For 'Background Contents' select 'Transparent' 3.) Set both the 'Width' and 'Height' to 256. Set the 'Resolution to 72.

4.) File>Open (open the picture that you want to use for your spray) 5.) Cut out the image using the 'Polygonal Lasso Tool' then press 'Ctrl+C' to copy it, and paste it onto the transparent background by pressing 'Ctrl+V'.

        • NOTE**** If you want to use more than one image in your spray, or add text, after you do so, go to 'Layer' then 'Merge Visible'.

6.) Click the small image next to 'Layer 1' while holding the 'Ctrl' key. (it should select the image that you cut out)

8.) Use the 'Paint Bucket Tool' and fill in you selected image with white.

9.) Go back to the 'Layers' tab and click 'Layer 1' then deselect your image by pressing 'Ctrl+D' 10.) Double click the color box, and set 'R:' 'G:' and 'B:' to 128. (that should make a grey color)

11.) Use the 'Paint Bucket Tool' and fill in the background with the grey color. (the area that you fill in with '128 gray' will be the transparent part) 12.) File>Save As... make sure that you save your spray as a 'Targa' file or a '.TGA' file.
