ReadyBoost: Dont waste your memory card slot

EDIT 7/25/15 Readyboost is trash, dont use it.

Most laptops and desktops have memory card slots. If you also have Windows Vista or Windows 7 you can use the ReadyBoost feature to speed up your computer using a memory card.

This can work with SD cards, CF cards, SSD expresscards, PCMCIA memory cards, USB sticks, etc.

How to use ReadyBoost

  1. Insert the memory you want to use with ReadyBoost
  2. Open "My Computer" and select the memory you are using. Right click it and go to properties
  3. Look for a tab called "ReadyBoost" - If you dont see it look at special steps
    1. Click start button, and either use the search field or Run command and enter "services.msc" without quotes
    2. Find ReadyBoost in the list. Double click to open and set to Automatic. Click start and OK. Close all windows and repeat main step.
  4. Select "Use this device" option, and set to maximum memory
  5. Restart
